On a compass, the index pointer is a line that helps the user set the instrument for travel. That's where the name for this blog comes from. This blog uses the GPS coordinates as the dateline and serves as a journal for things that I think might interest others. The GPS coordinates are intended to help people find those same places if they wish.
My first camera, as a child, was an Ansco 50. I carried it in my shirt pocket for years until I lost it on a hunting trip. I remember pressing the little red shutter button to document family, friends, and the world around me. My cameras have changed since then, but I still feel the magic when I take pictures.
The purpose of this blog is to help new photographers learn about various aspects of photography. The main tool will be my photos, with brief text about what led me to take the shot.
LAT N35° 8' 40.20" | LON -90° 3' 24.84" — (June 8, 2008) We went on a riverboat ride using Memphis Queen Riverboats, a local company that takes tourists on the Mississippi. Was a nice break from walking all day. Anyway, here's a video from that boat ride:
